Description
BLACK-NECKED STILT by PRISCILLA BURGERS
A black-necked stilt appears to be admiring his reflection at Gilbert Riparian Preserve at Water Ranch in Gilbert, Arizona. Approximately 298 species of birds have been identified on the site, and many insects, fish, amphibians, reptiles, and mammals have found homes there as well. The black-necked stilt (Himantopus mexicanus) is a shorebird of American wetlands and coastlines. The black-necked stilt forages by probing mainly in mudflats and lakeshores, but also in very shallow waters near shores. It eats aquatic invertebrates, mainly crustaceans and other arthropods, and mollusks, and small fish, tadpoles and very rarely plant seeds.
The Fine Art America logo will not appear on your finished product.
