Description
Image is a digital painting of the Old Brick Mill on Silver Creek in Lindale, Georgia. Several ducks are swimming in the creek as it reflects the mill. The Old Brick Mill is also known as Barnett's Mill, Jones Mill, Hoss' Mill, Silver Creek Mill, and Folly Mill. It has a large metal wheel which no longer turns; water was carried to it in a race from the high ground. The mill was erected in 1832 by slave labor with bricks made with clay dug near the site. Larkin Barnett was the first owner. In 1840 a bag of flour processed in the mill was sent to the World's Fair in Paris where it won first prize. It was damaged by pillaging Northern troops during the Civil War and rebuilt by the owner, Capt. Jacob H. Hoss. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993. More recently, it has been known as Jones' mill and has been a meeting place for Boy Scouts. In the early 1970's, the Lindale Garden Club signed an indefinite $1 a year lease for the mill with the WestPoint Pepperell Manufacturing Company. The club did extensive restoration of the mill and uses it as a center for its activities.

Wonderful digital artwork, Priscilla! So quaint and calming! I Love the colors reflected on the water… The ducks add something special to the charming appeal of this tranquil scene. L&F

Gorgeous image, Priscilla! Truly one of my favorite subjects, but there's nothing like this in my area. f/v

Thank you so much, Heidi. I love mills as well and there aren't any here in Arizona. I search for them on the internet when we plan a trip.
