Description
VERDIN by PRISICLLA BURGERS
The verdin is a tiny, short-tailed songbird with a short and sharply pointed bill. It has pale grayish plumage. The adult has a yellow head with dark lores. The rufous shoulders are not viible on this image but are very visible on another image where the bird has its wings spread. It is active, usually solitary or in pairs. Like this bird, it is found in arid brush. It forages chickadee-like, gleaning insects from twigs and flowers. It perches on flowers to take nectar and visits hummingbird feeders. I photographed this verdin at Gilbert Riparian Preserve in Arizona.
