Description
The American kestrel (Falco sparverius) is the smallest and most common falcon and smallest raptor in North America. It's primary mode of hunting is by perching and waiting for prey to come near. It also hunts by kiting, hovering in the air with rapid wing beats and scanning the ground for prey. Count data from the USGS Breeding Bird Survey (BBS) indicate that the North American breeding population is experiencing long-term and gradual but sustained declines. This is a sad fact since kestrels are such beautiful and colorful birds. This kestrel was photographed in Rexburg, Idaho.
The Fine Art America logo will not appear on your finished product.

Wonderful image, set against a clear, clear blue sky. The form and plumage of the bird emerges strongly.
