Description
APPALACHIAN HOMESTEAD by PRISCILLA BURGERS
Nathaniel Peters, a Mexican War veteran, and his wife made their home in this log cabin along Flat Creek in the Appalachian Mountains with his wife after their marriage in 1838. They had six children, two of which became Civil War soldiers in the Union Army. One of the children, Cordelia Peters Parker, fondly called "Aunt Cordie", lived her entire life in this log cabin, from 1856 to 1943. This is one of two bedrooms in the attic.
