Description
INSIDE PARIS SPRINGS GARAGE ON ROUTE 66 by PRISCILLA BURGERS
When Eli Paris opened a hotel in a small Missouri town to cater to the people flocking to the town's healing mineral waters, the town was renamed for the hotel operator. It became Paris Springs and not only provided a dip in its rich springs but also produced bottled waters.
The Sinclair station was opened in 1930 by Gay and Fred Mason, who named the place Gay Parita. They kept busy with the traffic from Route 66. After the Masons passed away, Route 66 was decommissioned, and I-44 bypassed the town.
Gary Turner and his wife, Lena, purchased the station and along with their son, Steve, they rebuilt it with native stones. Today, while not an exact replica, it provides a new generation of Route 66 travelers the opportunity to see the past, After Turner's death in 2015, the station was purchased by an easterner who wanted to keep the station intact and keep the route 66 memorabilia from being sold at auction. The new owner is very interesting and inviting. This is a fascinating place to visit. Pictured here is just a few of the numerous memorabilia in the original stone Paris Springs Garage, adjacent to the Gay Paria Sinclair Station. This image would pair very nicely with my image, "Soda Memorabilia Inside Paris Springs Garage."
The Fine Art America logo will not appear on your finished product.
