JACKSON'S MILL BRIDGE by PRISCILLA BURGERS
Jackson's Mill Covered Bridge, in East Providencetown, Bedford County, Pennsylvania, is named for M.J.Jackson who bought the adjacent mills in 1867. His brothers-in-laws, Adam Karns Bottomfield and Jacob Pee, built the bridge in 1875 fir $1284. During the Johnstown Flood of 1889, the bridge was washed about 200 yards down Brush Creek. The bridge was reset at its present location for $675. Above the entrance to the bridge is written, " $5 FINE FOR RIDING OR DRIVING OVER THIS BRIDGE FASTER THAN A WALK. BUILT BY KARNS, RAHM, 1889." Jackson's Mill Bridge is on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.
