Description
This is an image of the San Jose Mission Church in San Antonio, Texas, beautifully framed by the doors of the convent. Built in 1720, it is the largest and best known of the Texas missions. The size of the mission complex earned it the title "Queen of the Missions." The beautiful church building is known for its unique architecture. The mission residents learned to use firearms to fend off Comanche and Apache raids. Their skill, plus massive stone walls, discouraged enemy attacks. The Mission is part of the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park.
