"Rock House at Granite Dells" is a photograph with painterly effects of a sunset at famous Granite Dells. Granite Dells is at Watson Lake in Prescott, Arizona. There are reportedly only two other locations in the world where there are rocks as old as the Dells.. In the early days, the Dells provided both excellent cover and abundant water for elusive hostile Indians. They would sweep out from this safe haven to attack early settlers passing by on their way into Prescott. It was the location of nationally known Granite Dells Resort in the early to mid 20's. The resort attracted the "rich and famous," including a number of movie productions, as well as the popular duo Abbott and Costello, who practiced their baseball comedy act "Who's on First?" at the Granite Dells Field. Many early westerns were shot around Prescott, most notably by Tom Mix who had a ranch close by. Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy also had a private airstrip and ranch about twenty miles north of Prescott.

I was born and raised in the Metropolitan New York City area of New Jersey but have lived in Arizona for forty years. After retiring from high school counseling and teaching, I discovered the joy of photography and digital art. Although I strive to get the shot right in the camera, I enjoy the artistic and creative aspects of working with image editing programs.
