Description
Image is a prairie dog standing on his hind legs, sunning himself near his burrow. The sun is casting his shadow across his burrow and the snow. This prairie dog lives near Bear Creek in central Colorado. Prairie dogs are herbivorous burrowing rodents native to the grasslands of North America. They are a type of ground squirrel, found in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Prairie dogs are named for their habitat and warning call, which sounds similar to a dog's bark.
