This image was captured and processed by my husband, Neal Burgers. The sun is casting a beautiful glow on the cabin and trees surrounding it near Pagosa Springs, Colorado. Night comes early and casts long shadows in this area. Close to the Continental Divide and at over 8,000 feet, this mountainous area is beautiful any time of day and every season of the year. The aspen in this autumn image are in the process of changing to gold and orange. These trees are known as quaking aspen, due to the quaking or trembling of the leaves caused by the flexible flattened petioles (stalks attaching the stems to the leaf blades). This image is also available with scripture.

I was born and raised in the Metropolitan New York City area of New Jersey but have lived in Arizona for forty years. After retiring from high school counseling and teaching, I discovered the joy of photography and digital art. Although I strive to get the shot right in the camera, I enjoy the artistic and creative aspects of working with image editing programs. Capturing the beauty of God's creation with landscape photography was my first passion. I thank God for his creations and that I am fortunate enough to see and capture a part of them with my camera.
