CATHEDRAL ROCK OF SEDONA by PRISCILLA BURGERS

Cathedral Rock is a famous landmark in Sedona, Arizona, and is one of the most photographed sights in Arizona, USA. This beautiful view of Cathedral Rock shows the red rock formation and sunset clouds reflected in Oak Creek. The trees lining the creek are beginning to change color on this early fall day. Cathedral Rock was carved from a redbed sandstone formed from coastal sand dunes near the shoreline of the ancient Pedregosa Sea. Cathedral Rock was called "Court House Rock" on some early maps, and Courthouse Butte was called "Church House Rock", which has caused endless confusion ever since. Cathedral Rock can be seen in many western movies, including Broken Arrow, Blood on the Moon, and The Last Wagon.
