Description
MARK TWAIN FAMILY CABIN by PRISCILLA BURGERS
Renowned author and humorist Samuel Clemens, better known as "Mark Twain," was likely conceived in this little log home, originally located in Possum Trot, Tennessee. Twain's father, John Clemens, moved to East Tennessee in the early 1820's, where he served as the first postmaster of the Pall Mall Post Office. John and his wife, Jane, raised four of their children in this cabin. The family left for Missouri in 1835, and five months after their departure, their son Samuel was born.
