Description
Image is a sepia-toned digital painting of Pine Run Grist Mill. This mill was purchased from J.T. Lefler, owner of the Pine Run Mill in Hillsville, Virginia, and was moved to the campus of Life University in Marietta, Georgia It had been converted to run on power from an automobile engine, but has been restored to its original water powered specifications. It is now part of a "pioneer village" which has been developed on the campus and is located on the site of the Sewell Mill which was built in the 1830's. The mill, which includes the mill stones, wooden gears, and the building itself was last operated 50 years ago. Since its reconstruction at Life University, the mill is once again grinding corn meal and grits as it was in its early beginning.
